Blue Danube
Another heirloom dahlia. This one dates back to 1948. This is a lovely dahlia in the blue/lavender tones. It’s not really blue, of course, and would technically qualify as purple, but it is bluer than virtually any other dahlia I have encountered. It’s a distinct, not-quite-lilac shade that practically glows it in the soft light of early evening. It has also been referred to as “Bonny Blue”. Blooms are around 3 inches and the plant itself is of medium height. This heirloom also originated in Oregon.
